Islanders are being encouraged to join staff from the Respiratory Team at the Hospital and take part in a cycle challenge in aid of the British Lung Foundation.
'Pump up your Lungs' is a nationwide challenge that encourages people to cycle either 140 or 300 miles in support of people suffering with lung conditions.
One in five people in the UK suffer from lung conditions such as asthma and every 10 seconds, a person in the UK suffers a potentially life-threatening asthma attack.
Minister for Health and Social Services, Deputy Richard Renouf, said: "I am very proud of the staff we have within our health services and I fully support this initiative. The British Lung Foundation provides vital, lifesaving research and help to people all over the British Isles and gives hope to those who suffer from lung conditions."
Respiratory Nurse Specialist, Duarte Viera, said: "This is a charity that is very important to us in the Respiratory Team, and I'd like to encourage everyone to join us in raising money for a worthwhile cause. You can also help by signing up to the challenge yourself by visiting www.blf.org.uk."
