Flu cases reach pre-pandemic levels, report finds.

Flu cases in Jersey have returned to pre-pandemic levels, with 256 confirmed cases between September 2023 and April 2024 and around 30 deaths, according to Public Health Jersey.

The report highlighted that flu case numbers were similar to those seen before the pandemic. Prof Peter Bradley, Public Health director, emphasized the importance of flu vaccinations, particularly for older adults.

While 74% of people aged 65 and over were vaccinated, this was below the World Health Organisation's target of 75%. Prof Bradley called for increased vaccination rates, saying that higher numbers would offer greater community protection.
