Flowerbed designed to mark RNLI's 200th anniversary

A flowerbed featuring over 14,500

plants has been unveiled in a Jersey park to commemorate the RNLI's 200th anniversary.

According to RNLI Jersey, the display was created by head gardener John Richards in St Saviour's Howard Davis Park as part of the charity's celebrations.

The charity noted that it took Mr. Richards, whose family has been involved in volunteering and fundraising for the RNLI since the 1890s, a week to complete the planting.

Michelle Cabot, the fundraising chair of RNLI Jersey, described the flowerbed as a poignant tribute to both the charity's history and the enduring legacy of the Richards family.

"The Richards family has been a cornerstone of support for RNLI Jersey across generations," Ms. Cabot said.

"Their commitment, whether at sea or through fundraising, truly reflects the essence of our mission to save lives," she added.
