Fewer than 10 teaching positions remain unfilled as the new term starts.

As the new autumn term begins in Jersey, fewer than 10 teacher vacancies remain, according to Education Minister Deputy Rob Ward.

He described the situation as "pleasing" but acknowledged ongoing challenges in retaining teachers. The government aims to make the profession more appealing to reduce vacancies.

Ward highlighted a positive start to the school year following the resolution of a teacher pay dispute in February. Teachers received an 8% pay rise for 2024, plus 1% above inflation for the next two years, and a £1,500 one-off payment, ending a series of strikes in 2023.
