A new purpose has been found for the vacant restaurant site at St Ouen’s Bay, as it will serve as a backdrop for the upcoming Bergerac reboot.
Residents near the former Nude Dunes restaurant at La Pulente received notices during the week of 12 August, informing them that Blacklight Ltd, one of the production companies behind the reboot of the iconic 1980s show, will be filming there next Saturday and on Wednesday, 28 August.
The letter indicated that filming would occur both inside and outside the former restaurant, as well as on the beach and the Five Mile Road, featuring "action vehicles" and drone footage.
Last month, locals gathered at La Pulente to protest plans, initially reported in the JEP, to convert the site into self-catering accommodations. The demonstration, led by St. Brelade Deputy Montfort Tadier, aimed to protect the bay and coastline from privatisation and over-development.
Nude Dunes, along with its sister restaurant at St Aubin, closed less than six months after opening, following the collapse of Nude Food's operations.
Economic Development Minister Kirsten Morel previously confirmed that outdoor filming for the series would take place in Jersey, with indoor scenes shot in UK studios.
The new six-episode series, directed by Peaky Blinders’ Colm McCarthy, was announced earlier this year. It offers a modern take on the classic detective drama created by Robert Banks Stewart, with Irish actor Damien Molony set to play the reimagined Jim Bergerac.
